Advertising Shits In Your Head (Strategies For Resistance) Book Release
Following a successful crowd fundraiser to cover the printing cost of their latest publication, Dog Section Press has now printed and released 'Advertising Shits In Your Head' (Strategies For Resistance), a short book about the world of subvertising. We previous mentioned the publication on the site back when they ran their crowdfunding campaign in October 2016 and having backed the project our copy of the publication has just arrived.
London based group Protest Stencil took to the streets of London in October installing some Advertising Shits In Your Head cutout stencil pieces such as the one pictured above in Angel, London. The cut out stencils were fixed directly over bus shelter advertising in a number of location in support of Dog Section Press' now successful crowdfunding campaign. As these were digital spaces, the adverts and colours behind the stencils were ever changing but the Advertising Shits In Your Head message was constant.
We have yet to read the publication as it has just landing through the letterbox, but we are certainly looking forward to learning more about the contemporary subvertising movement. The Advertising Shits In Your Head book combines theory and practice in one jam packed pocket sized book and features Jordan Seiler’s Public Ad Campaign, Brandalism, Special Patrol Group and as well as street artist Dr. D (Previously on Hookedblog) who has said, “Once advertising has shit in your head, you’re going to need something to clean it up with; I couldn’t recommend this book more highly.”
Where to Buy The Book
Advertising Shits In Your Head is now available to purchase online directly from Dog Section Press and is also available from selected bookshops. Dog Section Press is a not-for-profit publisher and all of their publications are printed with workers’ co-operative Calverts.
