London Street Artist Mobstr Altered Street Sign in Hackney Wick, London

It's been sometime since we caught work from Hackney Wick based street artist Mobstr. Following a busy year which saw him install a number of huge installation works at the Shangrala area of the Glastonbury Music Festival and more recently he released a number of limited edition prints with East London gallery Nelly Duff it looks like the artist has taken to the streets again.

We recently stopped in Hackney Wick in East London to grab a coffee at the multi-functional creative venue and cafe Stour Space before we headed further East to Newham to catch another recent piece by artist Remi Rough.

While we were in the Wick we stopped to re-photographed one of the Mobstr pieces that appeared last year sometime around August and one that is still running.

The work is a classic Mobstr piece and saw the artist install an official looking street sign on the side of the street but if ones stops and takes a moment to actually read the sign you will realise that all is not what it should be.

Altering the message on this official looking road sign the message reads “GET ME DOWN FROM HERE      IT’S TOO HIGH     I DON”T LIKE IT’. Mobstr has positioned the artwork a little higher than you would normally find these road signs as it "Turns out, signposts aren't comfortable with heights" according to Mobstr.

We also spotted an additional work which would appear to be a new stencil text based piece from the artist. We are not sure how long ago this work was installed or if it is indeed by Mobstr, as it has yet to appear on his official website.

But given its location and the style of work it is highly likely to be one of his text based stencil street art works. The two street works by Mobstr can be found in Fish Island in Hackney Wick, London.
