Opening earlier in this week the 'Spank the Monkey' is an international exhibition of urban and street art held at the BALTIC art gallery in Gateshead on the quayside and also on the streets of Newcastle-upon-Tyne & Gateshead. The show includes work form: Banksy, FAILE, Freaks Gallery, Shepard Fairey, Groovisions, Invader, Kozyndan, Barry Mcgee, Ryan Mcginness, Takashi Murakami, Miss Van, Neasden Control Centre, Os Gemeos, Swoon and Ed Templeton to name a few.

There is a review of the show over on the BBC website and a Flickr collection of images from the opening night here. Some of the artist have also passed through London as we have seen some new works by Obey and Faile on the Streets of East London. The exhibition runs until January 7th, plenty of time to get yourselves up north to check it out.
