Moniker Art Fair — Behind the scenes
We called over to The Moniker Art Fair over in Village Underground and got a sneak peak of the set-up. The place was buzzing yesterday as the international gallerist began to arrive to set up their spaces. Huge wooden crates were being delivered thoughout the day, each filled with beautifully selected pieces. We are not going to tell you what was in them just yet as we don't want to spoil the surprise but ye are in for a visual treat.
The six galleries showing work at the fair include New Image Art, Choque Cultural, Circleculture, Carmichael Gallery, Campbarbossa, Black Rat Projests, Patricia Armocida and Anonymous.
Alongside the gallery spaces, there are six project spaces featuring Ben Eine, Steve Powers, Titi Freak, Polly Morgan, Katrin Fridriks and Herakut. Each of the six have tranformered their spaces with no two alike. As we arrived yesterday Herakut were putting the finishing touches to their space, Ben Eine was mixing a massive bucket of paste!, Titi Freak and the Choque Cultural team were unpacking some of his colourful works and Katrin Fridriks had her paint brushes out and was working on some huge canvases.
The show opens to the public this evening 14 October from 7pm. Check the full program of events on the Moniker website. Babelgum will have a pop-up cinema in the space and will be screening some inspiring films. The guys at VNA magazine will launch their newest issue VNA 13 tomorrow with a massive party ( RSVP essential!) plus live painting from a number of the artists. Get yourself over to East London.
