We recently returned to London from the street art festival the Crystal Ship Festival now in its fourth year on the Belgian coast in Ostend. For us, part of the enjoyment in visiting street art festivals is getting introduced to the work of street artists new to us be they local or international.

Hookedblog has just returned from a few wonderful days in Ostend, Belgium for this year's edition of the Crystal Ship festival curated by Bjorn Van Pouke. Despite the crisp sunny skies, it was bitterly cold in Ostend and we were happy to have brought some ski thermals, gloves and scarf with us to keep warm as we cycled around Ostend shooting the artists at work.

We touched down in the city by the sea late Wednesday evening and with many of the artists having at that point already completed or were near completing their murals we were straight out onto the streets with our cameras soon after dropping our bags at the hotel to see who we could catch at work on their murals.

Hookedblog has touched down in the coastal city of Ostend, Belgium for the contemporary street art festival The Crystal Ship. We had a super early start catching the 8.16am Eurostar train to Brussels from London’s St Pancras International station.

It was almost a year ago when we visited the Belgian city of Antwerp for the very first time. As with any new destination, we spent a large part of day one and two exploring the new city, checking out the must-see sights and searching out some of the many street art pieces and murals that are to be found across the Antwerp.

As this was Belgium we were of course on a bike, we have mentioned this in previous posts but this country's cites are great for cycling around, with bike lanes making it very easy to get about. When you are constantly on the lookout for the next photo this is not something we would do in London but in Antwerp, a bike is the best way to get around.
