The early hours of Sunday morning, 17th September saw the walls of London graced with not one but two new works from the elusive British street artist Banksy. The stencil artist shared the two pieces on his official verified Banksy instagram account at 2pm this afternoon announcing the new works and hinting at their location near to the Barbican in central London.
Yep, you read the headline right, UK street artist Banksy (Previously on Hookedblog) is giving away the above-pictured print absolutely free. Following his recent Dover stencil work, the elusive artist has just updated his Banksy Instagram account as well as the Banksy website with news of this new UK Election Souvenir Print - an update of his much loved "Girl With Ballon' work which now features the girl with a Union Jack Flag helium balloon.

A one time regular on the streets of East London it's been some time since we've seen some street work from London based street artist The Krah. The last few months has seen the artist focus on studio work and other projects including a number of exhibitions he has curated in his West London space.
Last week saw his welcome return to the streets of London hitting up the Shoreditch neighbourhood with a black and white series of large scale pasteups, some featuring new imagery and others drawing from the artists archive one of which is included in this post.

Alongside the new pasteup work, The Krah has also been working on a new series of stencil pieces which have started to appear in West London and soon we are told over here in the East. The street artists new #FuckStreetart stencil works pictured below might possibly be considered a little NSFW for some. The stencil pieces feature some of most recognisable street art symbols or Street Logos as Tristan Manco referred to them in his 2004 book of the same name.
These iconic street logos have been incorporated into various explicit scenes in which he has replaced the human figures heads with the logos of some of the leading street artist from across the globe. Street artists which feature in The Krah's stencils include Banksy, Invader, Obey, Faile, Eine, Os Gemeos and D*Face to name a few. Check out the images below to see what other artists are featured in this new stencil series.

Os Gemeos, Barry McGee, D*Face, KAWS, Banksy, Eine, Sickboy, Invader, The London Police, Keith Haring and Jean-Michel Basquiat.

The internet was abuzz late Sunday afternoon with talk of a possible new stencil artwork from British artist Banksy. A number of various cropped images of the new work began to surface on Instagram following the story of the new Banksy piece breaking on the Guardian website shortly after 6pm Sunday 24th. Further confirmation of the piece's authenticity soon followed in the form or an image of the work appearing on the Instagram account of Banksy's publicist, Jo Brooks.

Hookedblog stopped into central London late last week to visit the Public Execution exhibition at the Lights of Soho gallery in Brewer Street, Soho. Hosted by Pictures On Walls and featuring the work of Toulouse's master draftsman Dran, Public Execution sees the artist return to London five years after his last solo show in which he took over a floor of the Banksy ‘Marks and Stencils’ exhibition in Soho.
A last minute announcement of the show on the Pictures On Walls (POW) website still saw huge crowds turn up on the opening night for what POW promised "to be a 'live' masterclass in 'spontaneous creativity' happening in 'real time'. Fans of the artist queued on the opening night only to be presented with gallery walls filled with empty spray painted frames. Over the three weeks period the show will run for, Dran will be creating his art show from scratch, using the space as a studio and creating new artworks each day in full public view. Upon completion of all the work the exhibition will close immediately on the 21st February.
On our visit the space was starting to take show with a number of artworks beginning to appear on the walls. If you find yourself in the Soho area be sure to stop by into the space and see Dran at work, you are almost certain to see something new. Below are a selection from our trip, check back with us some for updates are the show progresses and be sure to mark the 21st February in your calander and see the finished show.

Dran: Public Execution Exhibition runs at the space until 21st February 2015. Open Tuesday to Saturday 11am — 7pm, the public are invited to visit at any time, but may not always be welcome!
Location — 35 Brewer Street, Soho, London W1 (map)

The latest publication to join the Hookedblog bookshelf is The Mammoth Book of Street Art.
The book presents a collection of photographs from JAKE's personal archives with a little help from us here at Hookedblog. Having originally had his studio on Rivington Street in London way back when, JAKE found himself right in the middle of it all back when this part of London was completely bombed with street art and graffiti. Having now moved outta the area, JAKE asked us earlier in the year to contribute some of our photos to help him fill the gaps in the book. We were more than happy to help as his selection of artists include many whose work we admire here at Hookedblog.
This mammoth book is over 440 pages of full colour with 70 plus artists featured including some of the following Nuria Mora, Micrbo, Bo130, Eltono, Kid Acne, Dscreet, Ronzo, Faile, Swoon, Remi Rough, Conor Harrington, D*Face, Eine and Banksy.
The publication retails at £10.99 but you can find it here on Amazon

Earlier today saw the addition of some huge new street art paste ups from Thierry Guetta aka Mr Brainwash in Central London featuring the image of supermodel Kate Moss. The huge image has been pasted onto the exterior of the Old Sorting Office in Holburn next to Jubilee paste-up's featuring the Queen which we covered last month here.
We had heard rumors of a large scale show and it has now been confirmed that Mr Brainwash's first large scale European solo exhibition will open in London on the 5th August 2012. The exhibition will see the artist take over the colossal space of the Old Sorting Office both inside and as we have already seen outside as well. With such a vast space it will be interesting to see how the artist fills the building. More info on the show when we have it!
The Sorting Office - 21-31 New Oxford Street - London WC1Show opens 5th August 2012
UPDATE: Here is a photography of the second large scale image Mr.Brainwash has installed next to the Kate Moss piece.

It's been just over a month since Banksy caused a stir with a new Diamond Jubilee inspired piece of street art in Turnpike Lane, North London. Now just a stone's throw from the Banksy piece another street art giant has hit the streets of Turnpike Lane. Friday saw Shephard Fairey aka OBEY in North London installing a new mural just next to the Turnpike Lane Underground station.
According to the Guardian the mural was a commisioned piece installed without charge and organised by local resident James Straffon with the help of a London Gallery. The "Envision Peace' mural pictured, is above a local corner shop and sees Fairey make use of an old disused Victorian placard.

The mural is part of a larger community regeneration programme that is being carried out by the local Haringey council and is the second such project Fairey has worked in the last week. Before his stop in London, Fairey was in Paris working on another local community regeneration project but on much larger scale. Our London friend and photographer Butterfly was in Paris and captured the action. The work located on 93 rue Jeanne d’Arc was painted onto a 14 storey building, check the timelapse below of the Paris piece.
For those of you interested is seeing/photographing the Shepard Fairey London mural it is located on Langham Road next to the Turnpike Lane Underground Station. And if you haven't already seen it be sure and check this North London Banksy stencil just across the road.

The web has been abuzz all afternoon with chatter of a new Banksy street art piece in North London. According to locals this street art stencil piece appeared some time in early hours this morning on the side wall of the Poundland discount shop on Whymark Avenue in Turnpike Lane, London. This piece has not officially been confirmed as a Banksy piece, but with the Queen's upcoming Diamond Jubilee, the location of this piece and the style and cut of the stencil it is highly likely that it's the work of Banksy. Here are a selection of photos Hookedblog captured this evening.
Continuing with our London Street Art series here is a new selection of East London art captured by us here at Hookedblog over the last week. The above Banksy 'Neighborhood Watch' sticker was spotted the other day and as this one is all scratched up we just figured it was an old sticker that had been covered/boarded over but we have since started to see a whole bunch of these appear around Shoreditch again. Imagine they won't last long, what with people now removing/collecting street art stickers as well!!
New street work from Dale Grimshaw who currently has an exhibition running at The Signal Gallery on Paul Street. We suggest ye also check out this short video clip which was released in the run up to his show and featuring the artist at work in his studio.
