Urban Edge Show 2005: Video

Way back in 2005 we were fortunate enough to be in Milan and got to visit the awesome Urban Edge Show curated by Italian street artists Microbo and Bo130.

At the time it was the largest urban art event organized in Europe and saw over 80 street artists from around the globe fill a 1000 square meters old industrial building with art. The show featured the best artists from the Urban scene and saw works on display from the likes of Alexone, Blu, Barnstormers, Bo130, Doze Green, El tono & Nuria, The Finders Keepers: Dave the Chimp, PMH, Mysterious Al, D*face, Flyng Fortress, Jeremy Fish, Microbo, Miss Van, Mr Jago, Nano 4814, Shepard Fairey, Swoon, The London Police and Will Barras to name a few!

The video above has only just now appeared online. It was produced by Diana Manfredi who was asked by the curators of the show to produce a DVD for the event documenting the birth, life and death of this huge art show.

Looks like the BUFF have been very busy the last few weeks, the streets are looking far too clean - even the large Obey on Old Street has been removed. With a Faile and Bast joint exhibition early next month at Lazarides {blogged here} lets hope they hit the streets with some fresh works.

Faile Bast Deluxx Fluxx Arcade

The guys over on the Artbleat blog got the scoop on the upcoming Faile and Bast show at Lazarides Gallery. The Faile Bast Deluxx Fluxx Arcade is set to open on the 12th February and will run until the 27th March 2010.

To kick-start the 2010 programme, Lazarides is proud to present a rare treat in the form of Faile, Brooklyn’s infamous collaborative duo. Bringing their unique vision to London and featuring long-time collaborator, Bast, the two floors of Lazarides Greek Street gallery will be taken over for a truly experiential exhibition.

Haunts of 80s populist culture inspire the distinctive concept show. Faile and Bast’s signature elements will resound throughout the galleries, no nook left uncovered, creating an explosively immersive installation. Interaction with a variety of participatory components will be encouraged among gallery visitors along with the added bonus of being able to purchase Faile artworks for a mere £2, unless that is, you want to use them within the exhibition, intrigued? You should be.

A hop, skip and jump away at Lazarides’ Rathbone gallery will be a 10-year retrospective of Faile’s work. Having emerged on the New York scene in the late 90s, they’ve gathered a firm following over the years with their flypostered vision transforming many a street the world over. Creating original imagery from an array of pop culture, their practice amalgamates: prints, paintings, collage, sculpture, murals and urban interventions.
New works and a retrospective sounds like it's gonna be an awesome show and one not to be missed. We will keep you updated!

Josh's artwork measures 8" wide by 10" tall. The reverse side of each archival print has been hand-stamped with Tiny Showcases authentication insignia and hand-numbered. The archival artwork has been printed on a 290gsm natural white printmaking paper.

Photographer and fellow blogger Nolions has snapped the two altered Banksy pieces and also written a great piece about this ongoing graff vs streetart beef over on the Graffoto blog. You can read it here.
