Conor Harrington 'Headless Heroes'
Lazarides is proud to present 'Headless Heroes' by Conor Harrington. Conor's last solo show in 2008 was a bold and beautiful visual feast and 'Headless Heroes' promises much more.
Continuing his exploration into masculinity and power, Conor's new paintings and drawings combine historical re-enactment, F1 pit-stops, text and glamour models. Conor's aim is to have the visual aesthetic of his paintings reflect the visual culture we live in.
Since he was a teenager painting on the streets of Cork, Conor has always tread a fine line between 'street art' and 'fine art', never aligning himself with a particular movement or aesthetic but instead pushing forward with his own unique representations of the world around him, creating works that are striking yet accessible.
30th October 2009 - 26th November 2009
The show is open Monday-Friday 11-7pm and Saturday 12-5pm.

JOY OF TOY EXHIBITION
EASTGALLERYon Brick Lane will be hosting the first UK vinyl toy expo from 6th November.
THE JOY OF TOY exhibition is a retrospective of some of the landmark pieces by sub-culture artists and designers who work in the contemporary pop art medium of character and toy design.
The sub-culture of the vinyl toy, sometimes referred to as designer vinyl or art toys, has been steadily growing over the past decade. With companies such as Kidrobot exhibiting in Selfridges and adFunture Workshop exhibiting in the V&A, its unabated growth in popularity is both a niche consumer market and an art movement in itself.
Iconic pieces by artists such as Kaws, Michael Lau, Eric So, Bounty Hunter and James Jarvis will be displayed alongside a collection of prints, drawings and paintings.
Alongside the exhibition there will be a gallery pop-up shop and special artist signings of products. This inaugural UK vinyl toy expo event will take place from 6th November until the 15th November. Launch event is the evening of 6th November from 6PM until 9PM.

Sanderson Bob - Pic + Mix
Pic + Mix are a new series of art exhibitions curated by Intercity for 55dsl. Each show will see a renowned artist selecting and working with a collaborator of their choice; this could be a like-minded contemporary, a fresh new talent, or an artist from a completely different discipline - photography, sculpture, moving image, furniture design, music and more – all are up for grabs.
The collaborative nature of this series of shows will offer diverse ways of working, and the results will be a creative mix of both talents and techniques.
The first show launches on Thursday 29th, where one our favourite graphic designer'sSanderson Bob will work with blacksmith Sam Sherbone. Sanderson Bob wanted to work with Sam to capture the craft, quality, personality and story that one-off handmade objects possess. As well a sculpture, there will be a number of prints created for the show inspired by the time Sanderson Bob has spent with Sam in his worshop in Sheffield. The collaboration has given both artists an opportunity to really embrace the project and it promises to produce an uninhibited selection of work.
The show will run from the 30th October until the 20th November.

Not one for resting, Sickboy has been busy in the print studio working alongside the highly energetic and gifted printer, Aida to bring us his newest incarnation in the form of ‘ZAPATISM’ - it’s got nothing to do with Mexican revolutionaries and more to do with getting blasted in the mind by electricity from the gods.
Each print is hand-treated with spray and inks before and after the printing process, resulting in 15 original one-off works on super heavy weight card, followed by a super duper low run of 5 on silver card.

The Art Of Rock
Curated By Logan Hicks
In November 2008 the seed for the Green Day Art Project was planted. The concept was to choose eighteen international artists to informally collaborate with GreenDay. Each artist would receive lyrics to one of the songs from the soon to be released 21st Century Breakdown. Then they would produce a piece of art that was influenced, or inspired by the lyrics of the song. Although the artists had the lyrics, they did not have the music that accompanied the words. The results from that collaboration are presented in this show.
Featured Artists: M-CITY // MARIUSZ WARAS, MEGGS, PEAT WOLLAEGER, PISA73, RON ENGLISH, SADHU, SIXTEN, THE LONDON POLICE, WILL BARRAS, ADAM (5100) FEIBELMAN , BROKEN CROW, C215 // CHRISTIAN GUÉMY, CHRIS STAIN, COMPONENT, DABS // MYLA , EELUS, JEREMIAH GARCIA, LOGAN HICKS, LUCAMALEONTE

All City Writers - Graffiti Book
All City Writers is a new book set to drop next month which explores the Writing movement, focusing particulary on the process of its exportation from New York to all of Europe during the 80's. The first part of the book analyzes how graffiti in media such as movies, videos, magazines, and books from New York influenced Europe. When images of the New York subway arrived in London, Par is, Munich and Amsterdam, a huge milestone was set : a first generation of European graffiti writers started to follow the letters, the method, the techniques, and the general lifestyle of New York in the 70s.
The whole project developed from the consideration that many of the stories that writers experience are just lost in time. Other than the pictures of their pieces, the adventures, and sensations a writer lives through often just disappear like so many other bits of oral culture. For that reason, All City Writers contains the largest contribution of texts ever published in this field. With 1.230 pictures, 620 articles and more than 250 writers involved who contributed their own stories to the project All City Writers is a heavy-weight of graffiti literature – and that not just in terms of the actual size and weight of the book.
The book, a massive volume of more than 400 pages, is available from Amazon.

Luc Price aka Cyclops
at Black Rat Press Gallery
Black Rat Press has announced that their next show is a solo exhibition of works by Lucas Price aka Cyclops.
Heralded as a new star in the art world, the artist – whose familiar skeletal, giant toothed street art works with painting partner,
Sweet Toof, can be seen in high profile spots all over the capital, and the world – will be exploring the fringes of society in a show which tackles narratives of homelessness, dereliction, madness, drugs and redemption.
Featuring works on canvas and paper as well as a series of thought-provoking installations, this promises to be the most audacious debut show of the year. To underline the show’s narrative, Price has worked with Sweet Toof on a site-specific installation – a wake with a coffin bearing an effigy of one of his street art characters. Price says: “The way I see it, he’s dead and this is a new start.”
Jesus Help Me Find My Proper Place opens with a private view this Thursday 15 October.

JOE LEDBETTER'S
'SHOCK AND AWE' SOLO SHOW
This Saturday 10 October, will see the the Launch event of Joe Ledbetter's Amalgamation Tour and his first U.K solo show at the London Miles Gallery.
Influenced by classic animation, graphic design, and daily life, Joe Ledbetter's art is... well... a lot of things. Light-hearted in its approach, he often combines cute and cuddly creatures with unfortunate - albeit humorous - situations. With a lean on the subversive and absurd, these scenarios are all too familiar, questioning our tendency of taking life (and ourselves) too seriously.
While working as a graphic apparel artist for three years, Ledbetter got involved in the LA underground art scene, beginning with group shows like Cannibal Flower. By the summer of 2004, he had honed his trademark visual style of emblematic line-work, vibrant colors, and endearing characters to the point of quitting his day job. His incredible cast of creatures have since been emblazoned on over 100 designer vinyl toys, as well as apparel and lifestyle brands, the world over.
Shock and Awe Opens on Saturday October 10th, 2009 from 5pm to 8pm
Joe Ledbetter will be in attendance at the opening to sign your toys, prints and more. Please R.S.V.P to attend the opening event on October 10th to Sales@Londonmiles.com.
